Before you start replacing your vanity, remember to stop your main water supply in your unit/house.
Here is the original vanity that had to go
Here after it was removed
Cardboard is a good way to test different sizes (here bathroom already tiled)
Because this was a small bathroom the main idea was to save space. The old vanity was unnecessarily deep. This picture shows how little space there was in the bathroom before the renovation.
Comparing different vanities from different suppliers:
This one looked like the best fit. It was narrower, yet it had more storage space inside the cabinet than the old one.
If you have kids, have them test it in the store before you buy it

This job probably goes parallel with other jobs like toilet installation in this case
The vanity cabinet put in place
The sink goes on top of it
The cabinet is drilled and the hot and cold water ends go inside. The threaded stoppers are replaced with valves. The plumber will have those or you buy them with the mixer (as they are not included)
It's a fiddly job because the cabinet first actually needs to be fixed to the wall before replacing the pipe stoppers with valves. When you drill the hole, it will leave a mark on the wall and that's where the screws will be. But to drill the holes for the pipes you need to correctly guess it by measuring because when you place the vanity to the wall, you can't access the other side with a pencil.
Then it's time to study the mixer installation guide
It will say which ending is for hot and which for cold water. They are screwed to the valves with plumber's tape around the thread
After the water supply is installed, the water drainage needs to be done:
New drain pipe setup |
That requires a bit of a skill because the setup will almost certainly be different from the last one: The plumber will do it in no time
Previous drain pipe setup |
The vanity more or less finished
The last job is to fill the gaps between the tiled wall and the vanity
